Rigged!

Think Donald Trump’s plummeting poll numbers and predictions of a Democratic wave election means there’s a light at the end of the tunnel after the November midterms? Think again. It’s likely the Trump Train is coming straight for election integrity.

After Virginians voted this week to create new congressional districts to favor Democrats, the Election Denier-in-Chief immediately cried foul and Republicans turned to that state’s courts to stall or stop the will of the voters.

Cheered along by a once-proud newspaper that sold its editorial soul for some government space contracts.

Say what you will about Trump and the GOP Hallelujah Chorus but there’s one area in which they display total consistency: hypocrisy:

Let’s set the Wayback Machine to last July, when Trump called on Texas Governor Greg Abbott to redraw that state’s district map to find five more Republicans to fill the House Toady Caucus. He exulted over the results:

Big WIN for the Great State of Texas!!! Everything Passed, on our way to FIVE more Congressional seats and saving your Rights, your Freedoms, and your Country, itself. Texas never lets us down…

But then Democrats did something different. They fought back, first in California and now in Virginia, a decidedly purple state but one with tens of thousands of federal employees and contractors in the D.C. Metro area.

Voters whose livelihoods were affected by Elon and his Muskrats rampage to comply with Budget Director Russell Vought’s desire for federal employees to be “traumatically affected.”

Trump took time out from his mission to end Iranian civilization — not to mention build a ballroom, an oversized arch and clean up the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool — to rail against Virginia voters. And rehash tired, old and disproved conspiracy theories:

A RIGGED ELECTION TOOK PLACE LAST NIGHT IN THE GREAT COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA! All day long Republicans were winning, the Spirit was unbelievable, until the very end when, of course, there was a massive ‘Mail In Ballot Drop!’ Where have I heard that before — And the Democrats eked out another Crooked Victory! … Let’s see if the Courts will fix this travesty of ‘Justice.’

Naturally, a judge in Tazewell County — population 40,429 hard on the West Virginia border — was happy to oblige the dictum of this “extraordinarily brilliant person” who claimed the ballot question language was unintelligible.

The judge ruled the legislature’s constitutional amendment and referendum results invalid and prevented state officials from “certifying the results” and from taking “any actions to give effect to the proposed constitutional amendment.”

After all, why should the views of 1,575,503 people matter? I thought conservatives long railed against “activist judges?

Virginia Attorney General Jay Jones moved to challenge the decision, noting that annoying tendency of GOP hypocrisy:

“Virginia voters have spoken, and an activist judge should not have the power over the People’s vote.”

New York Democratic lawmaker Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was even more direct:

“Wah wah wah. We have asked Republicans for 10 years to ban partisan gerrymandering. And for 10 years, Republicans have said no. What they’re just mad at is that they have been accustomed to a Democratic Party that rolls over.”

Of course that’s irrelevant to the Jeff Bezos-directed Washington Post editorial page, which pooh-poohed last year’s Texas vote:

“What’s happening in the Lone Star State is not a threat to democracy.” “Even if Texas’s move triggers an arms race, the trend will not put American democracy on life support.”

Fast forward to this week and listen to the Wah-wah-wah Chorus, accusing Barack Obama and Democrats of a “cynical calculation:

“For them, disenfranchising Republican voters is the only way to counterbalance the desperate attempts by Republicans in other states to save their congressional majority. They’re right that the GOP started this fight by trying to pick up five House seats in Texas through gerrymandering, but they can spare us the false sanctimony about democratic norms going forward.”

A legacy is a terrible thing to waste in bowing to a would-be king who controls the cash flow to Bezos’ Blue Origins rocket company.

But desperate times call for desperate measures for those on the receiving end of the Trump Grift Machine. The man who helped foment an insurrection to keep his job in 2021 is looking at a bleak landscape.

Polls show his approval ratings anywhere from eight to 34 points underwater. He’s now even more unpopular than Joe Biden at the same stage of their terms.

Soaring gasoline prices triggered by an unpopular war of choice — not to mention a wildly unpopular immigration pogrom — has sent many of the voters who bought his campaign lies off the reservation, if not yet fully into the arms of Democrats.

That’s why he is choosing to relitigate the 2020 elections, suing more than 20 states trying to force them to turn over voter rolls and seizing ballot boxes or questioning results from the 2020 election in Georgia, Arizona and Pennsylvania. And just recently challenged 2024 results in Michigan — a state he won.

And they continue to push for the SAVE Act — which would disenfranchise millions of potential voters to “ensure only American citizens vote'‘ in federal elections, require all voters to show proof of identity, and require all ballots be counted within 36 hours of Election Day.

Despite the reality that non-citizen voters are as rare as honest Trump regime minions.

Does anyone truly believe Trump — who engineered a failed coup in 2021 — will accept the will of the voters if he doesn’t like the results?

Stand back and stand by at your peril.
